It started
with Joey.
The little rescue dog who changed the way we cared for every dog.
When Joey was diagnosed with lupus, his health continued to decline despite medications, countless vet visits and everything we knew to try.
Then we found holistic veterinarian Dr Kate Millhouse. She created a broader care plan specifically for Joey, including a fresh-food diet, acupuncture, herbs, supplements and a whole-dog approach.
Slowly, things changed. Joey's nose healed, his energy returned and that unmistakable spark began to shine again.
Joey taught us to ask more questions, find the right professional support and treat every dog as an individual.
Court is a trainer, groomer and lifelong dog lover. Dan is a chef who believes every dog deserves good-quality food made with fresh, nourishing ingredients. We began sharing what Joey had taught us, and an incredible community of dog lovers joined the journey.
Now that journey is growing into the Chefs & Dogs app: a place to discover new ideas, find your pack and make every day with your dog even better.

Can I mix kibble and raw?+
They eat things that would put a human in hospital. An egg on their kibble is literally the safest thing they've eaten all week. The "they digest at different rates" thing gets repeated everywhere but it's not the full picture. Start small. A sardine. An egg. Some mince. Your dog's bowl doesn't have to be all or nothing.
My vet says raw is dangerous+
Look, we're not here to fight your vet. Some love it, some don't. All we know is our dog was sick, we changed what was in his bowl, and he got better. We're not anti-vet. Joey's vet is literally the reason we started. Every dog is different. Find a vet that aligns with your goals and your dog's needs. That relationship matters more than anything.
How do I know it's balanced?+
This is the one everyone stresses about. Here's what we do - rotate proteins, rotate your veg and fruit (we blend ours for the week), include offal, muscle meat, bone, and whatever add-ons suit your dog. You don't need to get it perfect every bowl. Spread it across the week and you're doing better than you think. Every dog is different though - what Joey thrives on might not suit yours. For anything specific, find a vet who actually understands fresh feeding. They're out there.
Is fresh feeding expensive?+
It doesn't have to be. We've formulated budget-friendly recipes with Dr. Nicole Rous from $1.77 a day for a 10kg dog. Real food, real budget. There are plenty of options and we'll show you how to make it work for your dog and your wallet.
I already feed fresh. Anything here for me?+
